Hi Blittle,
Thanks for your interest in helping me. I was wondering how to change the appearance of the Taskbar. Do you have any favorite Taskbar settings? If so, what are they and how did you set them.

Hello Editor,
I do have some favorite taskbar settings. One of them is the "Quick Launch". Here is how you put it on your taskbar:
1. Right click the taskbar.
2. At the very bottom of the menu that appears, there is an option that says "Properties". Click it.
3. A dialog box will appear and it will give you the following options:
Lock the taskbar
Auto-hide the taskbar
Keep the taskbar on top of other windows
Group similar taskbar buttons
Show Quick Launch
Show the clock
Hide inactive icons
4. Verify that "Show Quick Launch"is checked.
5. Click "Ok" or "Apply" and then"Cancel".
6. Now you have your veryown "Quick Launch" to costimize by dragging and dropping more programs to it or deleting the default programs (Doesn't mean everything), but most of all, remember to have fun with your"Quick Launch".

Yes, I do. That is changing a password or adding a password:
1. Go to "Start" and go to ControlPanel.
2. Go to "User Accounts" and click your account.
3. Click "Change my password" and then click the box under the following text:
Type your current password
4. Type your current password and then click the box under the following text:
Type a new password
5. Type a new password and then click the box under thefollowing text:
Type the new password again to confirm
6. Type the password again and ifyou even have just the slightest worry that you might forget your password, click the box under the following text:
Type a word or phrase to use as a password hint
7. Type something that will appear if you froget your password. For example, if your password is "My Cousin Johnny", type this as a password hint:
Name of my cousin
8. Once you have done everything listed in this post, click"Change Password".
9. The next time you start your computer or log off, you willhave to type in that same password. See ya around Editor!

That is interesting. Normally I do not use passwords since I am not needing privacy on my computer. But, if I ever do, I'll be sure to use your suggestions.

I have some more favorite settings for Windows XP. One of them requires the log on screen. To switch your computer from the welcome screen to the log on screen, you have to:
1. Go to start and click control panel.
2. Click user accounts.
3. Click change the way users log on or off.
4. Verify that "Use the Welcome screen" is unchecked.
5. Click apply options and close user accounts.
6. Now the next time you start your computer or log off, you will be given the log on screen instead of the welcome screen. Now, that other setting I like is having users press CTRL+ALT+DEL before logging on. You set that by:
1. Click start and then click run.
2. In the "Run" box, type in the following text:
control userpasswords2
3. Click the "Advanced" tab and verify that the following check box is checked:
Require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete
4. Click "Ok" or "Apply" then "Cancel".
5. Now the next time you log off or start your computer you will have to press CTRL+ALT+DEL before logging on.

Wow! That's quite a bit to figure out on your own. Let me ask you, what is the advantage to having to select CTRL ALT DEL to start up Windows? Are there security reasons for doing this? Do some research and let me know.

There are security reasons for having that setting. The following two sentences explain:
For added security, you can require users to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete before logging on. This guarantees that the authentic Windows logon prompt appears, protecting the system from programs that mimic a logon to retrieve password information.
